A Grade II-listed church, named as one of the country’s most ‘at risk’ historic buildings, could be brought back to life as studio flats.

Plans have been submitted to convert the Unitarian Chapel, known as the Welsh Baptist Chapel – on Upper Brook Street, Ardwick.  A new building would join onto it and a total of 93 apartments would be created.

The Victorian Society named the 1830s council-owned building as one of the 10 most endangered building in England and Wales in 2010.

Developers Church Converts have been in negotiations with the town hall over bringing the site back into use since 2009.
